Our local church (Church of God of Prophecy) has been a part of the Olathe community for over 70 years.

Organized as an in-home Sunday School, the church grew and eventually “upgraded” to the rented storefront on the corner of Mahaffie and Loula St. Not long after that, this small but missions-minded church purchased its first building on Harrison St., where it continued to deepen its connection to the community and raise generations of future teachers, preachers, evangelists, missionaries, deacons and ministry volunteers.

In the early seventies, a newer, larger facility was built on Stevenson St. not far from Olathe High School and the ministry continued to grow. As a result, we built our current facility (pictured above) in 1996, including Prairie Center Christian Childcare, our church’s daycare facility.

In our continuing efforts to share the good news of Jesus Christ and provide a positive Christian contribution to our community, we recognize that the faithful and loving sacrifices and service of countless people throughout our history have allowed us to progress to our current level of ministry. Those of us who are the beneficiaries of such wonderful examples pray that the testimony of God’s faithfulness may continue to be passed down to future generations through us as we continue to love and serve Christ and the people of Olathe and surrounding communities.

•...the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.

•...there is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

•...in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His physical miracles. His atoning death on the cross. His resurrection. His ascension and His personal return in power and glory in His second coming.

•...that the regeneration of the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of sinful man.

•...in water baptism by immersion as a testimony of Christ's redemptive work in each born-again Christian.

•...in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the operation of the gifts of the Spirit through individuals for the purposes of glorifying God and edifying the church body.

•...in the giftedness of every believer to serve God and reach others through the ministry of their God-given talents and abilities.

•...in the unity of all believers in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

•...in membership by covenant, which joins believers together under Christ to fulfill His purposes in this world.

•...in the ordinances of communion and feetwashing as practiced and prescribed by Christ.

•...in the sanctity of the marriage bond, and the importance of loving and committed Christian families.

•...in the sanctity of all human life, including the unborn, aged and disabled.

•...in making a positive community contribution through worship, evangelism, prayer, fellowship and practical help.
